Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, today honoured the winners of the App Olympics at a ceremony organised by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy at the Museum of the Future in Dubai. Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted Dubai's continuous development under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The App Olympics, part of the ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ initiative launched in March 2023, aims to bolster Dubai’s leadership in digital technologies, attracting 1,100 applications and selecting 12 for the finals. Sheikh Hamdan announced a global edition for the next App Olympics, inviting innovators worldwide, emphasizing Dubai's commitment to becoming a global tech hub. Entrepreneur Bassem Nassif, founder of The Intern, has confirmed the app’s launch at GITEX 2024. This follows the app's win for Best Social Impact App at the Dubai Smart Applications Olympics, hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Technology and under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. The project also secured a $150,000 prize to develop the app. Artificial Intelligence In an exclusive statement to the digital economy platform FollowICT, Nassif explained that The Intern is an innovative platform designed to connect students and young professionals with the best internship and entry-level job opportunities. By leveraging advanced AI technology, the app automates matching, screening, and engagement processes, ensuring seamless, accurate, and efficient hiring without the need for human intervention. Additionally, TheIntern.app integrates secure payment solutions, enabling smooth transactions for premium features and services, offering a comprehensive experience for both candidates and employers. Building the Product Nassif added that the $150,000 prize was awarded to build the initial product and launch it at GITEX. He noted that the app was founded in Dubai, which has become the new Silicon Valley for the Middle East, creating an environment conducive to launching tech ventures. Investment Nassif also mentioned ongoing discussions not only with investors in Egypt but also with local and international universities.
